This post applies only to United Kingdom 2011 and Canada 2011 QuickBooks Users

Issue:
You receive the following error message:
The Preference Use Customer Tax Code has not been Set

Cause:
You are trying to set the Sales Tax Code for a transaction item line but a preference in QuickBooks has not been enabled.

Resolution:
Change the preference to allow the customer tax code to use Customer and Vendor Tax Codes when creating a transaction.

In QuickBooks do the following:
1. Click Edit/Preferences
2. Choose Sales Tax then choose the Company Preferences Tab.
3. Check the following under the Customer and Vendor Tax Codes section
    Use Customer Tax Codes
    Use Vendor Tax Codes
